These guides were amazing!
He lifted me up when I couldn’t find the strength and put himself in front so I wouldn’t fall. We shared stories, and laughs, and even some tears. We are strangers who became friends and by the end of the climb were family. Thank you Gold Star Peak for all that you taught me.
Gold Star Peak hike isn’t just a hike with a beautiful view! It’s a journey with amazing people that understand the pain of losing someone that you love deeply. As a parent it’s a way of us honoring our child and keeping his memory alive! Thank you Kirk and all of the volunteers for dedicating your life for families like ours.
The energy of the group, the purpose of the climb, and the incredible guides we had, made this easier than it ever could have been in my own. It was powerful and life changing. I would train a lot more if I did it again.
As a grandmother of 13 grandchildren, 10 living; it has been my mission to invest in their lives and leave a legacy that would remind them they are each unique and special. Leah was only 8 years old when Joseph passed and this experience has made it possible for her to connect with him in a special way, an experience she will never forget. I’m thankful for the privilege of investing in the next generation and consider each opportunity a gift, thank you and your staff for this gift.
The peak and the people behind it have meant more to me than I can ever find the words for in my grief journey honoring SFC Richard Hester and SSG (ret) Kirk O. This place brings me peace in the chaos.
So glad they made the climb. It’s hard to explain how difficult the climb is on so many levels and once at the top the emotions that overwhelm you. Then you have to get down! Lol! Thank you GSP, Kirk and your team for taking care of us all!

It’s a magical, healing place. Walking on the summit feels like walking on hallowed ground. It is a profound experience, one we are forever grateful to you for allowing us to accompany you, John, and Nate that day. Yesterday, I did something out of my comfort zone…I climbed, hiked, crawled, slipped, fell, cried, cussed, laughed, sweated and finally made my way to the top (and back down) of Gold Star Peak with some amazing women. Thank you.
Holy cow, what a crazy hard, scary, beautiful, and amazing experience. Worth it but so hard, you can do it!
All the guides were great, but Isaac, especially, was absolutely amazing.

On top of the mountain, all I could think about was how thankful I was for the sacrifices of my friends who had given their lives so we could stand in such a beautiful place. Looking out at one of the most majestic views in the whole world, I was so filled with emotion that we were able to go on and LIVE and be free, that their love propels us on, and that we should make the most of our lives to honor them.
I can’t tell you how much this meant to us and will be forever grateful for you making it possible! The three of you men are amazing and will be forever in our hearts! Hatcher Jack too!

Kirk, I want you to know how much I enjoyed yesterday. Since my brother was killed, my dad will rarely talk about it- it’s always been too difficult for him. Yesterday, was the first time that I’ve heard him reminisce about the good times we shared with Kevin for the 18 short years he was here. It was truly an experience that I will never forget.
