Nick Dawson
Nick was born and raised in Southern California and spent much of his time hiking around the state. This included annual trips into the Sierra Nevada Mountain range. Serene landscapes such as Yosemite Valley, Kings Canyon, Mineral King Valley, Sequoia National Park, and Inyo National Forest have inspired Nick’s love of the outdoors.
Shortly after High School, Nick began working as an Emergency Medical Technician providing BLS Ambulance services in the Los Angeles area. After working as an EMT for several years, Nick cross-trained as a Behavioral Health Technician and worked at a Crisis Facility in Mesa, Arizona, providing care to clients suffering from behavioral health and substance abuse crises.
After four years working as an EMT / BHT, Nick committed to a childhood goal, to join the US Army. This ultimately led him to Alaska, where he spent seven years as an Active-Duty Paratrooper. Alaska’s breathtaking landscape and challenging terrain captured his heart, causing him to stay in the state after finishing his tours.
Since leaving the Army, Nick has found a passion in Behavioral Health. He is currently a student of Social Work at the University of Alaska Anchorage, where he hopes to achieve a master’s degree. Nick’s goal is to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and work with active-duty service members and veterans as a behavioral health provider.
Nick is grateful for each opportunity to help others reach the top of the Gold Star Peak, a place for honoring, remembering, and healing.
