On February 16, 2018, Kirk Alkire led commanders from the U.S. Army’s 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment “BOBCATS” to the top of Gold Star Peak, making this the first recorded ascent to the peak since it was federally recognized as Gold Star Peak.
