It’s tough to replicate the kind of physical, emotional, spiritual, and most importantly, the deep soul healing type of therapy that Gold Star Peak provides.
For our team, this picture sums up all of those aspects of the journey of grief so very many Gold Stars and Veterans are faced and struggle with.
Pictured is a Gold Star Father and a Veteran, but not just any Gold Star or Veteran, the Veteran was together in Iraq with the Gold Star Father’s son when he was killed in action. The two have been bonded by the this tragedy ever since that day, in fact, several years ago the Veteran moved his family to Alaska because of the father’s invitation to come for a visit.
As we descended off the summit, I couldn’t help but stand back a bit to capture this moment of the group, sharing stories and laughing, it was a special time and moment on the side of the mountain where plenty have ventured to experience this very type of mountain therapy.
Climbing Gold Star Peak is an experience that has impacted the hearts, minds, and souls of so very many that have made the journey. Although it is by no means an easy journey, every step of the climb is healing in so many ways.
